The days between

The days leading up to a big run are always really stressful. Packing, getting the car in order, preparing food. All in all whether it's a trip in the car or on the bike this process takes a full day. The specifics are a bit different but the idea is the same.

I had some adjustments made to the bike fit with Spoke-n-sport and got a new chain and rear tire in preparation for the big leg of the trip. My gear list had been pretty well set for weeks a few items were eliminated in the days before the trip to widdle down on weight. I picked up a small lightweight wallet, dropped to one pair of underwear, and left the big towel at home.

I had everything packed and charged two days early so that nothing was missed. This also gave me the freedom to treat the next few days as normal as possible to help keep my anxiety down.

The hardest thing for me leaving home is leaving Zada behind. People often say cats are just fine home alone but I always worry that she gets separation anxiety or something of the sort. This being a long time away from home I added a camera in my living room to see how she handles me being gone and to give myself peace of mind.
